Instructor Training
Once an instructor has been hired by a licensed course provider to begin teaching REBAC courses for them, the instructor is strongly encouraged to attend an Instructor Recertification Workshop, where they receive specialized training from REBAC. All REBAC instructors must complete this one-day workshop every two years. Each instructor’s performance is also monitored by REBAC through student evaluations.
Instructor Recertification Workshops are held each year in conjunction with NAR’s REALTORS® Conference & Expo and Mid-year Legislative Meetings as well as at the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) Annual Conference. Occasionally, training workshops are also held at NAR’s Chicago headquarters or other locations, depending on when new courses and course updates become available.
Materials for the ABR® Designation Course are revised every two years, so the recertification training ensures that instructors are keeping their courses current, vital, and viable. The first part of the workshop is devoted to reviewing changes in course content and new teaching techniques. During the afternoon, we focus on instructor development, with different topics designed to assist instructors with their teaching skills.
Instructor Recertification Workshop sessions are often scheduled in conjunction with other REBAC courses, providing convenient opportunities for instructors to sit in on courses they may want to teach. If REBAC instructors cannot attend one of these sessions, they can opt instead to take the course in a live setting from an instructor who has taught it at least twice before and has received excellent evaluations. A complete list of courses that can be audited (with limited exceptions ) is available at training4RE.com.
New REBAC instructors are urged to attend an ABR® Instructor Recertification Workshop at their earliest opportunity. New instructors find this training extremely beneficial to their future teaching success. In addition to covering updates on course content, these sessions review key information to pass along to students, including details on REBAC paperwork, member benefits, and everything that students should know as REBAC members.
